A shadow teacher is an educational assistant who works directly with a single special needs child during his preschool & primary school. A shadow teacher allows the child to attend a mainstream class while receiving the extra attention that he needs.

Selected Intern’s Day-to-day Responsibilities Include

• Accompanying the child throughout the school day to provide support and stability
• Helping the child understand and display appropriate behaviour in the classroom
• Supporting and providing guidance for carrying out daily academic activities at school
• Providing individual support to the child throughout the school hours
• Helping the child become responsible thus fostering independence and encourage learning
