more sustainable, self-sufficient and resilient rural communities while valuing and respecting the
knowledge and wisdom they already possess. It supports rural communities in achieving sustainable
self-sufficiency.
With a keen belief in the endless potential of rural wisdom, Barefoot College International forges a
first-of-its-kind, women-centred, global network dedicated to sustainable development in every
community where poverty exists. Designing new ways to nurture and support a journey to
empowerment, one village at a time, one woman at a time. We demystify and decentralize
technology and put new tools in the hands of the underserved, to spread self-sufficiency and
sustainability. With a geographic focus on the Least Developed Countries, we train women
worldwide as solar engineers, entrepreneurs and educators, who then return to their villages to
bring light and learning to their community.
BCI CONTENT DEPARTMENT
BCI content department works with a vision to develop grassroots contextualized
immersive content making right knowledge accessible to all rural audiences in both
traditional and high technology channels, empowering learners particularly women and
children to make positive sustainable choices, exercise their agency and promote a learning
sharing spirit.
Over the years of working in training and content, there has been an in-depth
understanding of nuances in content creation and delivery that create a world of a
difference while being delivered to rural audiences.
Barefoot College International delivers a wide range of training and Content programs under
the Education department targeting rural informal teachers, Enriche and Solar departments
targeting rural literate/sem-literate women, Livelihoods department targeting rural women
through enterprise model.
We create Audio visual content, print collateral (posters, leaflets, dairies, flyers, standees
etc) IEC materials, curriculum. We also use flash cards, flip books and other related material.
Lately, we are also working big time in the field of digital Audio visual content focussing on
animations.
JOB PROFILE
The incumbent should have excellent editing skills and should be aware of the latest editing
styles. The candidate should be able to present the content in a trendy manner, especially
for the digital platforms. The candidate should be able to do graphic designing and basic
animation required for the videos to be created. The ideal candidate should also have good
organizational and interpersonal skills and will be expected to work closely with a team of
project managers from varied backgrounds, experience, skills and knowledge levels.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating with editors, content writers and others in the organization
- Negotiating contracts and timescales.
- Undertaking relevant research and generating ideas.
- Drawing rough sketches for approval.
- Producing final illustrations.
SKILLS
- Super Creative, imaginative, keeping with trends while coming up with illustrations
- Should have an eye for color, balance, and layout.
- Able to create a drawing that expresses an idea or concept.
- Excellent at drawing, sketching, and painting skills.
- Should know the latest softwares required for illustrations-illustrator, photoshop,
procreate, coreldraw, etc
- Solid photography skills.
- Familiar with IT and design software.
- Great negotiators.
- Ability to adapt in the NGO working environment
- Ability to understand the requirements of the rural communities
- Occasional travel to get an understanding of the communities that we work with
- Should know how to speak, read and write English and Hindi
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have a relevant graphic designing/illustration course. Any other relevant course in
the media sector/communications/social sector may be desirable but not necessary.
Fresher to 2 to 3 years of experience in illustration or in a company or NGO is also
desirable.
COMPENSATION
Barefoot College International recognises that the right candidate will have a significant impact
on the success of the organization and is prepared to offer an attractive compensation package
for the non-profit sector, commensurate with experience. The remuneration for the position is 20 – 25 k/ month (Negotiable).
LOCATION
This job is based in Delhi but entails occasional travel throughout the Country to our project locations.
