A little more than a year ago to the day , my daughter made the heavy – footed journey from being a sheltered.

Every day my son is excited to go to school , where he is allowed to ask questions and encouraged to seek answers , in an environment where he feels comfortable enough to take chances , unafraid of failure. The small class size also means he gets plenty of attention. When he gets home he always has many anecdotes to share. The school is focused on raising happy , mindful children who are on their way to a lifetime of exciting discoveries.
My boys have been in B.D. Somani since Junior Kindergarten. They are in Grades 6 and 4 now. It has been the best learning experience for them. They love going to school. The teachers are excellent , always very approachable and there for my children when they need them. The hard work they put in to nurture our kids is amazing. I wish school could be a 365 – day experience!

As a multicultural family , we have always felt that our children’s diversity was respected and valued , which was very important to us. We can see how the core values of the school match our own in that the focus is in preparing our children for a future that can take them anywhere in the world. B.D. There is a difference between literacy and education. B.D. Somani exemplifies everything a well – rounded education stands for under the excellent leadership of Ms Zoe Hauser. The school’s core values match our values , and we truly appreciate the programs , the focus on teaching individual soft skills and social / behaviour skills combined with groups and teamwork. The 1:10 teacher student ratio and the small class size enables pupils to make most of their individual talents under the kind encouragement and guidance of the teachers. The students learn how to have healthy debates and share their opinions openly , and so competition becomes a catalyst for innovation and improvement (and not conflict). Brilliant initiatives , like forming the Student Council , not only sets discipline within the students but empowers them. Students at B.D. Somani are happy , confident and independent and unlike “studying” they truly enjoy the learning process; to the extent that my daughter wants to attend school even on weekends.
My son has been going to B.D. Somani only for a year; he joined in Reception. We can’t have asked for a better school for him. He loves going to school and feels very emotionally attached to his teachers , which is very important to us. We really like that B.D. Somani is so child – led in its approach and genuinely respects each child individually. The school encourages children to follow their developmental curve rather than enforce expected standards on to them. Building blocks and outdoor block play in the school day is a highlight for the younger children. I can safely say that my son’s start to education has begun in the right place.
I decided on B.D. Somani for my child because of the dedication of the teachers towards the students and also because it is one of the only international schools in South Mumbai with a big ground.
