Job Title : Intern, NITI Aayog Behavioural Insights Unit (BIU)
About CSBC: The Centre for Social and Behaviour Change (CSBC) at Ashoka University was established with
a vision to create an institution in India that is globally reputed for thought leadership and excellence in impactful
behaviour change interventions for low-income and marginalised populations. The Centre is focused on bringing
new capabilities such as behavioural science, design thinking, advanced data analytics, and responsive feedback
to governments, practitioners, and donors to help better design and optimise behaviour change interventions. We
work closely with Central and State Governments as well as other stakeholders in the areas of nutrition,
sanitation, financial inclusion, maternal and child health, data privacy, and agriculture.
Responsibility: CSBC and NITI Aayog have established India’s first Behavioural Insights Unit (BIU), which
will leverage behaviour science to improve the design and implementation of development programmes. The
NITI-BIU is working to develop ‘Poshan Gyan’, a national digital repository of trusted materials on Health and
Nutrition that can influence behaviors of women. The intern will primarily support work on Poshan Gyan, with
responsibilities including but not restricted to:
Roles and responsibilities
- Analyse administrative and survey data and draft crisp user-friendly insights
- Draft and finalise communication materials, including briefing notes, project memos, pitch
presentations and status update spreadsheets
- Assist the NITI-BIU in designing and maintaining communication and process templates
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on projects, including Poshan Gyan
- Any other work, as directed by the reporting manager
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, public policy, sociology, or related fields
- Ability to convey complex ideas in clear communication, including word documents, powerpoint
presentation, data visualisations and others
- Ability to manage and respond to varied tasks in a quick and efficient manner
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Fluency in English and Hindi (required)
Duration: 3 months (40 hours/ week), starting August 09, 2021.
Venue and days of work: Applicants should be authorized to work in India. However, due to the COVID-19
pandemic, CSBC has adopted a work-from-home model of operations. Given these circumstances, the role
would be on-boarded and executed remotely. Applicants will need to have their own laptops and access to a
functioning internet connection. They will need to be available through the working day to virtually join
meetings and support project requests. Based on the evolving COVID-19 situation, they may be asked to work
in-person at the NITI Aayog office in Delhi.
Compensation: Stipend of INR 10,000 per month (consolidated)
