Summary / Role Purpose

The primary function of this position is to develop and implement Ansys’ academic strategy and program in Asia to enhance Ansys’ leadership position in both research and teaching programs. Key responsibilities and objectives include selecting strategic academic customers, deepening customer relationships, maximizing campus-wide installations, product pricing and packaging changes/inputs for competitiveness, and driving new customer acquisition process. Furthermore, the position will provide support for key position recruitment and will coach / drive academic managers and channel reps to effectively promote, sell, and support Ansys academic products.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing and implementing Ansys’ academic strategy in Asia. The objective is to select and develop close relationships with key universities in each major market, drive product usage by maximizing the number of campus-wide installations and embedding Ansys products in curricula.
• Work in collaboration with regional academic teams to enhance and execute Ansys’ academic program.
• Coach and support academic account managers and channel partners on driving campus-wide agreements and ensuring Ansys is embedded in curricula.
• Build and implement a plan to drive academic new logo growth by leveraging Ansys’ full academic portfolio and focusing on both research and teaching opportunities.
• Help grow Ansys usage within student teams in Asia major markets. (Examples – FSAE, CubeSat.)
• Support the annual sales planning effort and be responsible for academic sales performance in Asia.
• Help recruit and develop key academic reps and managers within direct as well as indirect channels.
• Learn Ansys academic products and their positioning, and how these products are deployed on campuses. This includes understanding the ever-changing competitive environment and suggesting changes to the Ansys academic strategies.
• In key markets, understand the latest trends in Academia (e.g., changes in teaching methods, major government initiatives related to Academia, etc.) Act to capture new opportunities.
• Deliver technology keynote presentations at universities and key demand generation events.
• Identify partner / region specific academic product pricing and packaging requirements and feed into product development process.
• Conduct academic QBRs with select channel partners dedicated to academic segment.
• Be an Academic Program champion within Ansys.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements And Experience

• Master’s degree in technical or engineering field
• 10+ years of technical sales experience with at least 2 years of sales management experience
• Knowledge of Ansys’ products, internal processes, pricing strategies, and selling skills
• Deep understanding of the academic segment
• Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, and presentation skills
• Strong leadership capabilities and ability to motivate and inspire a team
• Up to 30% travel including international travel

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

• MBA preferred but not required
