Function: Campus Operations

Reporting to: Head of Operations

Level: Director

Role Summary:
The Director, Campus Operations plans, directs, executes and oversees various administrative responsibilities of Campus Operations of Ahmedabad University. The role encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology. Promote the financial and operational stability of the University, including the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations. This basically involves strategic planning, operations including budget planning, fiscal and resource planning/administration, manpower utilization & optimization, policy administration, coordination and co-operation for activities with other University functions. The role also requires to ensure life safety, and security of the university properties, and to liaise with the local authorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Campus Operations include effective and efficient management of the day to day running of the campus, cleanliness and housekeeping, student facilities, cafeteria, transportation, travel desk, event management, business continuity planning, space allocation and changes, building security and a safe working environment in compliance with building and safety codes.
  • Ensure proper guest services and smooth functioning of the university Guest House.
  • Identify, develop, execute operational business plans, monitor key metrics, and assist in the decision making of the function/areas, working in partnership with other enabling functions to deliver on objectives.
  • Plan, direct and supervise campus operation procedures and systems and devise ways to streamline processes discovering new ways to manage more efficiently in line with the University requirements.
  • Ensure aesthetically as well as functionally the University campus meets global standards.
  • Lead a team of professionals and third party service providers to complete a range of campus operations responsibilities ensuring operations adhere to policies and regulations.
  • Establish global benchmarks and appropriate responsibility areas as the basis for demonstrating the highest quality of services.
  • Promotes a culture of ‘Service Excellence’ throughout the function and the University.
  • Develop, track and manage all aspects of functional budget (capital and operational budgets), cost reduction, costs and expenses including preparation, submission, maintenance, reporting, compliance and audits.
  • Ensure the smooth and adequate flow of information within the University to facilitate other operations.
  • Manage schedules and deadlines of various campus operations activity.
  • Oversee all services, maintenance activities and vendors.
  • Organize and supervise other activities (recycling, renovations, zero waste, etc.).
  • Oversee University grounds and gardens on the campus.
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating of University events.
  • Liaise with the local authorities.
  • Keep abreast with all organizational changes and developments and regularly communicate the same to the various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record as an administrator at a senior level for 15-17 years with a reputed organization, preferably an ex-service personal.
  • Candidate with a MBA or Masters degree from a reputed institution is preferable.
