Level: Mid-senior level

Role Summary: This is a post for a vertical – Wellness – within the office of the Dean of Students. The incumbent would be responsible for driving wellness initiatives for both mental and physical health of the University students and employees. Apart from actively providing psychological counselling, the role demands monitoring of the medical facilities.

Responsibilities

  • To deliver personally and oversee the overall Wellness services at the University for students as well as for employees, by way of counselling and through the medical health centre.
  • Help develop psychological tools and programmes to help students cope with anxiety, stress, depression, issues related to relationships, etc.
  • Identify serious mental and emotional issues and take appropriate action and provide referrals if required.
  • To provide guidance to the team of counsellors/psychotherapists at the University.
  • To set-up and successfully lead support groups.
  • To design and coordinate programmes for new students through the orientation of the incoming batch.
  • To manage the Office of the Dean of Students and its attending documentation, reports preparation, budgeting, web content etc.
  • Create awareness on issues such as ragging, sexual harassment, cyber misconduct, substance abuse, gender parity, sexual orientation, etc. through talks, posters, workshops, panel discussions, etc.
  • To create a culture of trust, confidentiality, sensitivity, empathy and compassion for the student community and to offer a welcoming and a calm ambience to all visitors to the wellness centre.
  • To continually evaluate the growing wellness needs within the University community and plan to provide for them.
  • To anticipate the scale (of student growth in numbers) and plan for a team structure that can cater to it.
  • To ensure that student centric initiatives become best practices.
  • To help achieve mandatory compliance for governmental directives and create amongst the student community a sense of responsibility by sensitising them to issues such as ragging, gender parity and sexual harassment.
  • To drive Parent Engagement initiative.
  • Any other role assigned by the Dean of Students and the Vice Chancellor.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with strong communication, interpersonal, data management and organisational skills; experience of minimum 15 years of work as a counsellor. Someone with experience at a prominent educational institution or global exposure would be preferred.
