Job Description
The teaching of science will begin by establishing what questions are important and why. This will lead to a class-wise structure of what should be taught and how.The study of science should promote human welfare and the sustainability of the planet.Skills must therefore be taught in context, drawing on whichever topics are relevant. Research work and hands on learning should be encouraged. Mathematics should progress from the playful solving of puzzles to the application of techniques to practical questions and problems. It should eschew those areas which are purely formal and only have rare applications, or those which are best understood at a higher level of study. Concepts useful in basic physics and social sciences should receive more emphasis.
Skills and Qualifications
The selected candidate will have excellent communication skills, an infectious interest in the science and math of everyday life. He/She will be able to promote application-basedexperimental projects, and in doing soestablish logic, patient observation and rigour in inference as indispensable to learning and to considered opinion. Experience in education or training in school; good general knowledge; and the ability to work hard without day to day supervision. Age 30-45.
