Why Mavericks? Because we are trying to build something which has not been built ever and trust us, our roller-coaster journey over the last few years suggests that this is not for the faint-hearted! Before we go on to explain what all this is about, read this only if you have the appetite for venturing into the unknown, much as the protagonists of the famous movie Interstellar did!

What is Rebel Foods:
Before we move on to discuss why we need Mavericks in Supply Chain, it is important to understand what Rebel Foods is about.

We are surrounded by the world’s leading consumer companies led by technology: Amazon for retail, Airbnb for hospitality, Uber for mobility, Netflix and Spotify for entertainment, etc. Food & Beverage is the only consumer sector where large players are still traditional restaurant companies. At Rebel Foods, we are challenging this status quo as we build the world’s most valuable restaurant company on the internet, superfast.

The opportunity for us is immense due to the exponential growth in the food delivery business worldwide, which has helped us build ‘The World’s Largest Internet Restaurant Company’ in the last few years. Rebel Foods’ current presence in 12+ countries with 15+ brands and 3500+ internet restaurants has been built on a simple system – The Rebel Operating Model.

While for us it is still Day 1, we know we are in the middle of a revolution towards creating never seen before customer-first experiences. We bring you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to disrupt the 500-year-old industry with technology at its core.

We urge you to refer to the below[1] to understand how we are changing the restaurant industry before applying at Rebel Foods.

Trust this gives you a deeper insight into what we are trying to do and how we have evolved over the last few years. Before we move forward, let us share the secret sauce of this recipe (not the business model but how this company ticks every day). This brings us to the most important part of our existence: Our values, which at Rebel Foods are not mere charts hung around the office but a playbook by which we all execute on a daily basis. Go through the below presentation for a better comprehension of the same:

Being a Supply Chain Maverick:
So what does being a Supply Chain Maverick mean? As you may have figured by now, we have had two points of inflection in our journey: moving to the cloud-kitchen model and a multi-brand strategy. Having a unified supply chain which acts as an umbrella across all the brands has played a pivotal role in the growth of our network as well as creating multiple brands through the same infrastructure. As we embark on the next phase of our journey which will entail creating and onboarding more brands on our kitchen platform, the role of the Supply Chain function will evolve and become more engaging for the business. Tasks ranging from fitting multiple product portfolios to handling new SKUs across a multi-temperature supply chain will pose an unparalleled challenge in shaping the future of the worldwide internet restaurant industry.

So a Supply Chain Maverick’s job will not be limited to solving standard supply chain problems, but will extend to developing a world-class tech-based system of supply chain processes and mechanisms, which will be deployable for all use cases across the length and width of our country India, and be also replicable to international locations.

As a Supply Chain Maverick, you shall be required to ensure all our kitchens are stocked with JIT supplies to ensure minimum stock level with highest efficiencies, traceability and best quality ingredients sourced across the network. This role will test all your supply chain concepts and make you wish you had listened to the lectures of your professors more closely 😛

This role will entail a lot of coordinated effort with internal functions like Marketing (originators of these brands), Culinary Innovation (Chefs who create the amazing food we sell), Finance (after all we work with budgets and always meet them) and Technology (product teams who will help us create world-class tools), and external stakeholders like logistics partners, warehousing partners, ingredient manufacturers etc, to ensure it all comes together and results in an amazing experience for the end customer for every single order.

As we move forward to get new brands on our platform which might not necessarily incubate within Rebel Foods, the incumbent will have to find a Plug and Play model for these brands to ensure we scale them across our network. After all, who wouldn’t like having our beloved Tunday Kebab across India or having Murugan Idli home delivered in Delhi. And who stops us from hosting Chipotle or a Tim Mortons on our kitchen network next year, if you the Maverick are able to get this brand on our kitchen platform and establish a reliable supply chain across India.

Makings of a Supply Chain Maverick

So what would make a Supply Chain Maverick – Strong data analytics? Ability to work with a multifunctional team? Adaptive to change? I am not going to mention these because they are hygiene factors for this role. What would truly define you is a high degree of ownership, an insatiable hunger to keep trying till we succeed, an ability to think of solutions that can scale without human intervention and an ability to think big and innovate
