With a team of over 45 people, including local youth, Shiksharth now supports 400+ schools and community centers, focusing on school support, multilingual education, STEM, and ecology education for children in crisis.

Role Description As a STEM Trainer & Coach intern at Shiksharth, you will design and facilitate engaging STEM learning experiences for children, with a focus on making complex concepts accessible and relevant to their local context. You will conduct on-site classroom sessions, support teachers in integrating STEM activities into their lesson plans, and demonstrate hands-on experiments and projects that encourage curiosity and problem-solving. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning instructional modules, preparing low-cost learning materials, observing classroom practices, and offering coaching and feedback to educators. You will collect and document learning data, reflect on session outcomes, and collaborate with the broader team to refine STEM curricula and tools. This is an on-site internship role based in Mumbai, requiring regular presence in schools and community learning spaces.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), with the ability to explain concepts in simple, learner-friendly ways.
• Experience or interest in classroom facilitation, experiential learning, and activity-based teaching, especially with children in elementary and middle grades.
• Ability to design and adapt STEM projects using locally available, low-cost materials, and to contextualize content to diverse cultural and linguistic settings.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to build trust with children, teachers, and community members.
• Comfort with fieldwork in resource-constrained or marginalised settings, and openness to learning from local communities.
• Basic skills in documentation, reflection, and reporting on sessions, including maintaining records of activities and learning outcomes.
• Undergraduate or graduate background in education, science, engineering, or related fields is preferred, but candidates with strong demonstrated interest in STEM education are encouraged to apply.
