Company Description The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), founded in 1909 in Bengaluru through the joint efforts of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the Government of India, and the Maharaja of Mysore, is India’s premier institution for advanced scientific and technological research and education. The CCE at IISc Bengaluru is looking for skilled and motivated Technical Assistants to support the operational and technical management of continuing education courses and digital learning environments. The selected candidates will be responsible for assisting in the direct conduct of courses, managing online learning platforms, and providing comprehensive support for various educational, workshop, and training activities managed by the center.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist faculty, instructors, and course teams in the smooth conduct of courses at CCE.
• Actively monitor, moderate, and respond to participant queries in the online course discussion forums.
• Participate in and provide logistical and administrative support for various CCE continuing education related activities, workshops, and events.
• Assist in the maintenance, course management, and backend tracking of student engagement on the learning management platform.
• Coordinate with faculty members, office staff, and technical teams during the execution of training programmes.
• Maintain proper documentation, data entries, and records of student participation and course progression.
• Follow institutional guidelines regarding course administration, content delivery, and support standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Eligibility / Educational Qualification: B. Tech / B.Sc. or a 3-year Diploma in Engineering / Technology from a recognized University or Institute.
• Office Automation: High proficiency in using all major Office tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or equivalent open-source software) for data documentation and management.
• LMS Operations: Must be comfortable working with and configuring the Moodle LMS platform.
• Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with faculty, students, and institutional staff.
• Platform Management: Ability to handle online discussion forums, track responses, and manage student queries systematically.
• Task Execution: Ability to complete assigned technical and administrative tasks efficiently within given deadlines.

Software Knowledge Preferred

• Moodle LMS (Course Management, Forum Administration, User Enrollment)
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
• Any other relevant learning management or office automation software

Additional Knowledge Preferred

• Knowledge of educational technology workflows, online course management, and platform-based learner support.
• Knowledge of current digital learning trends, forum moderation techniques, and online community guidelines.
• Ability to learn new administrative tools, platforms, and institutional guidelines swiftly.
• Strong technical support and technical assistance skills, with the ability to handle basic installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of equipment or systems.
• Well-developed analytical skills to interpret instructions, support experimental setups, and assist in basic data checking or problem-solving.
• Effective communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with faculty, researchers, students, and external vendors.
• Ability to work methodically in a laboratory or technical environment, with attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical, engineering, or science discipline, or equivalent practical experience in a technical support role.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., email, documentation, spreadsheets) and willingness to learn institute-specific systems and tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment and manage time effectively across multiple tasks.

Role Description The Technical Assistant will support laboratories, research projects, and technical facilities by assisting with equipment setup, routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities include providing day-to-day technical support to faculty, researchers, and students, preparing and organizing materials for experiments or demonstrations, and helping to ensure adherence to safety and compliance protocols. The role also involves documenting procedures, maintaining inventories of technical supplies, coordinating with vendors or service providers where needed, and assisting in basic data collection or analysis under supervision. The Technical Assistant is expected to collaborate closely with academic and administrative teams to ensure smooth operation of teaching and research activities.
