We are looking for Adults interested in Working for our Montessori Secondary School in Pondicherry.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to undertake the one-off International AMI Montessori Orientation for Adolescent Studies, run by Training Centre from Sweden (March), gaining an Internationally accepted certificate.

About us
We run a group of Montessori schools upto 17 years in Pondicherry and Chennai. We have recently inaugurated our new Montessori Secondary Program; Quinta Essentia. This school is unique as it is based in a farm. This farm setting gives a holistic alternative to the regular classroom experience, and allows students to be able to study through practical experiential learning and develop into well rounded and complete adults with the knowledge and skills to go on to high education and work.
What we are looking for
We are looking for adults who have a background in education, agriculture, arts and crafts, construction, and subject matter experts in sciences, social sciences, humanities, or languages.
Roles available:
1. Farm manager and farm experts
a. Be responsible for the overall vision for development and maintenance of the Farm.
b. Be aware of the need for production of food both for use by the students and for exchange/sale to earn an income.
c. Organise and supervise all practical work with the students on cultivation of the land, on care of animals, on construction necessary to improve the environment.
d. Organise and schedules to ensure that all students have access to practical work and the economics involved in it (investment and income).
2. House parent/s
a. Arrange the farm “home” with the students for comfort and aesthetics, taking their ideas and helping them to implement them.
b. Organise and schedules for cleaning and cooking.
c. Present how to clean all areas of the home using a guiding check list as a control of error.
d. Plan menus for balanced healthy meals, planning and budgeting for shopping.
e. Present various cooking techniques and the essential tasks in maintaining kitchen hygiene.
f. Supervise the use of free social time with activities, games, sports, reading/telling stories, making music.
g. Supervise bedtimes.
h. Be vigilant around the pastoral care of students (physical health, mental health, emotional welfare).
3. Coordinator of studies
a. Plan all curriculum “Work/Study Cycles” in collaboration with Farm Manager and specialist teachers.
b. Design a plan of implementation for all Work/Study Cycles (daily flow, weekly flow, flow of full Work/Study Cycle).
c. Gather resources and essential materials for study.
d. Ensure that the requirements of the National Curriculum are covered within the Work/Study Cycles.
e. Observe, track and record student development and academic progress.
f. Establish and create outside connections with places/organizations of interest.
4. Subject matter experts (Sciences, humanities, English + Tamil).

Role requirements
· UG is required.
Trained in adolescent program from AMI will be given priority.
· All adults must be willing to support throughout the environment when necessary (home, work, study).
· Adults must work side by side with individuals or small groups presenting what is necessary to build skills for students to be able to function independently.
· Adults must maintain order in the physical environment and set an expectation of time management.
· Adults must collaborate to have a clear implementation of expectations around freedom and responsibility.
· The candidate should have the ability to engage with students in accordance with our curriculum, which will involve understanding the methodology, preparing presentations, lectures, practicums, discussions, etc.
· The candidate should be able to work alongside students of 12 – 17 years. Therefore, he/she should be passionate about the work to inspire and motivate the students.
· The candidate should have great communication skills in order to be able to effectively communicate on different levels, such as the students, other teachers, etc.
· The candidate will be responsible for imparting the strong Agricultural Wisdom lying in our heritage. This is a Way of Life, and how we should live and work along-side nature needs to be imparted to the students. The way we work, talk, and play along with the students should reflect our commitment to this Way of Life.
Remuneration
We can offer a competitive salary. Based on experience and qualifications, we match industry standards.
