Full Job Description
Essential functions of the job of a Counsellor is as follows:
· Develop a comprehensive counselling program on preventive and responsive measures to maintain emotional health and hygiene of all stakeholders
· Maintain data related to school counselling needs
· Provide guidance on Study Skills and Mentoring Sessions for children
· Based on the referral, observe and assess the child
· Plan and structure 1-0-1 counselling sessions as per the needs of the child
· Empower children to develop problem-solving skills and manage self-emotions
· Maintain written plan for effective delivery of counselling sessions
· Maintain confidentiality of sessions; confidentiality can be breached if the child is prone to self-harm, harming others, suicidal, CSA. In such cases parents must be informed
· Communicate goals for teachers, students and other stakeholders on specific emotional cases
· Support the child protection policy and Anti-Bullying policy in action
· Assist all students in groups or individually with developing academics, career and other personal and social skills
· Follow and function according to the POCSO guidelines
Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
· Orient Teachers in schools on the following:
o Behaviour Modification in children
o Counselling Program of the school
o Strategies to include all learners in the classroom
o Any other requirement that arises in the school
· Orient Parents on the following:
o Parenting Strategies for New parents in KG
o Mind-set for Inclusion
o Handling Adolescence
o Study Skills for Parents
o Any other requirement that comes to notice
· Collaborate and consult with educational professionals and community service providers
Required Skills and Abilities:
· Thorough knowledge of the
o principles, practices and procedures of counselling
o principles and methodology of effectively teaching students with emotional concerns
o school rules, regulations and procedures
Ability to
o report to work on a regular and punctual basis
o work with children with ADD and behaviour and/or emotional issues
o establish and maintain standards of behaviour
o deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports
o effectively and objectively analyse the needs and problems of the school and all the stakeholders
o establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public
o perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the school program
· Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school Boards
Job Types: Full-time, Regular / Permanent
Salary: ₹25,000.00 – ₹45,000.00 per month
