Overview:

The Muktangan research department requires a passionate researcher who encompasses domains that the organization’s core programme is embedded in, i.e., teacher education and learner-centred holistic education for students. What started in 2003, as a community education model within a network of 7 municipal schools in Mumbai, is now aspiring to transform (through partnerships) mainstream schools across the country. The teacher education team currently compromises of more than 500+ practitioners, many of them being members of the community who have grown with the organization. Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out quantitative data analysis of existing secondary data sets and primary quantitative data, using relevant research software or excel or webtools
  • Conducting qualitative analysis of data conducted through interviews, focus groups, workshops, or other methods
  • Carrying out desktop research, using a range of methods and sources of data, related to education, education policy, and social innovation practice globally.
  • Working closely with other team members as part of a team, with other department and with external stakeholders to manage relationships and deliver work.
  • Independently plan, design, and implement and disseminate high quality, complex and varied research outputs / evaluations for a range of audiences including analysis, report writing and presentations where necessary.
  • Making sure our work is participatory, including working with peer researchers and valuing the importance of communicating with different audiences.
  • Taking responsibility for data and project databases and administration as it relates to delivering work.
  • Delivery of work strands relating to our research. This will include taking personal responsibility for key elements of work as well as supporting others in the team.
  • Any other duties as required by the manager in line or organisation or other departments including need-based capacity building of staff.
  • Writing proposals, reports, blogs and delivering presentations when required.
  • Manage volunteers and interns of the department and assign appropriate duties.
  • Following a strict code of ethics and always protecting any confidential information.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively to achieve department goals and function in a fast-paced environment with a mature approach.
  • Strong statistical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in a research field.
  • Sound understanding of research methodologies.
  • Proficient in Information, Communication, Technology (ICT)
  • Attention to detail and exceptional written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills.

Requirement is full time Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 4.30 pm and Saturday 9.00 am to 1.30 pm.
