About the Role:
The School of Design and Digital Transmedia at Dayananda Sagar University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Game Design and Development. The ideal candidate should possess strong creative and technical proficiency in Game Design, Game Development, Level Design, and Interactive Media Production, with an aptitude for innovation, research, and academic mentorship.
The role involves teaching undergraduate students in the B.Des – Game Design program, guiding interactive projects, and contributing to the development of academic and industry-linked research in the evolving fields of Game Art, Game Programming, and Immersive Media.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging sessions on Game Design Principles, Game Mechanics, Level Design, and Game Development Tools.
• Mentor students in designing and developing 2D/3D games and prototypes using engines like Unity or Unreal Engine.
• Guide students on interactive storytelling, gameplay systems, and user experience in games.
• Develop and update course content, lab manuals, and project modules aligned with industry practices and new technologies.
• Encourage and guide students through game jams, collaborative projects, and portfolio development.
• Conduct and publish research or creative work in areas such as game design, gamification, AR/VR, or interactive media.
• Collaborate with faculty, industry experts, and research bodies on interdisciplinary and industry-driven projects.
• Actively participate in student reviews, exhibitions, events, hackathons, and academic administration.
Essential Qualifications:
• Postgraduate degree (M.Des / M.F.A / M.V.A / M.Tech or equivalent) in Game Design, Game Development, Interactive Media, or related disciplines.
• Ph.D. (Completed or Pursuing) in Game Design, Digital Media, or relevant fields will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of gameplay systems, level design, and game production pipelines.
• Proficiency in game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or Godot.
• Familiarity with 2D/3D asset creation tools such as Blender, Maya, Photoshop, or Substance Painter.
• Understanding of programming/scripting concepts (C#, Python, Blueprint, or equivalent).
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and presentation skills with a passion for interactive learning.
Desirable Attributes:
• Familiarity with AI in game design, procedural content generation, and XR (AR/VR/MR) applications.
• Experience in academic research, publications, or game studio collaborations.
• Ability to integrate design thinking and user-centred design approaches in teaching.
• Strong organisational, teamwork, and leadership skills.
• Commitment to fostering innovation, play-based learning, and creative pedagogy in game education.
