Teaching Fellow: Department of History
Designation: Teaching Fellow
Job Purpose: The Department of History at Ashoka University is looking for two (02)
Teaching Fellows (TFs) to assist in two Foundation courses on Indian Civilisations
for the Monsoon 2021 semester beginning on Monday 30th August 2021.
The courses will be conducted online until 8th October 2021. The University will
inform in advance about the teaching mode in the second half of the semester,
between 18th October and 3rd December 2021.
Duties and responsibilities:
TFs will be expected to:
- Attend the two weekly lectures of 90 minutes each and if needed, help set up these
lectures via the university’s learning management system (LMS), record them and
post them.
- Hold discussion sessions (DS) for a minimum of 3 hours every week.
- Be available for office hours every week.
- Meet the course instructor at least once a week to consult on the objectives and
lesson plan for the week’s discussion sections.
- Assist the course instructor with logistical support for the lectures, including
grading student performance, photocopying and distributing ancillary set of
readings, setting up technological equipment such as laptop and projector for
PowerPoint presentations.
- Do the readings assigned for the course.
- Help the students with their assignments and provide comments on all tutorial
work submitted by them.
- If required, grade in timely fashion all student assignments, quizzes and exams the
course instructor might assign during the semester.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should ideally have completed their MPhil or PhD degree. They should
demonstrate an interest in the historian’s craft, and possess a deep intellectual
curiosity.
- Those with a First class MA and doing M Phil or PhD may also apply.
- Those with PhD and research/teaching experience will be given preference.

- All selections will be made by the faculty members of the Department of History
and will be final.
