About us

We are an education startup reimagining early years and after school for the new generation of parents in India. We started in Kolkata in 2018 and came to Bangalore in 2022. Today we have 6 learning hubs in Bangalore where we focus on after school co-curricular activities at a world class level. Next, we are bringing the Openhouse approach to the world of Early Years by starting preschools and childcare programs.

Market Gap:

Today, modern parents when looking for a preschool program want children to be in a holistic environment that fosters enquiry, play, friendships and foundational learning. Working, nuclear families want daycares to be active for longer hours of the day so their child can be in a positive learning environment. However, in our experience a majority of young millennials parents are underwhelmed when they see the options in their neighbourhood. Either they find mass franchise preschools where the quality and approach are comprised, or they find one ultra premium (IB PYP) schools that are unaffordable to most. Openhouse is trying to bride this gap. We want to make high quality early years preschools with International standards of curriculum and delivery more accessible to young modern parents in every major neighbourhood in Bangalore.

Our Preschools

We are going to launch 6 progressive early years schools in Bangalore: in Indiranagar, Sarjapur, Whitefield, Sadashivnagar, Jayanagar and JP Nagar. These preschools will have full day and half day programs designed for new age working professional families.

Our USP will be:

• Our vibrant modern learning spaces. At the Openhouse Early Years, children will have a range of learning environments in their school from a markerspace, atelier, story telling den, movement studio, play area to a library.
• Second, we will also be supporting parents beyond the school hours as a parenting partner, helping them in various facets of life to develop their little ones.
• Third and most importantly, a very high quality or benchmark for educators. We will have a high bar while picking educators but most importantly will go through a lot of workshops and professional development courses in order to be child centric.

Our pedagogy: we are building our own approach but are taking inspiration from some of the best philosophies globally: Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf and IB PYP. We want our learning experience to be very hands-on, play based where children can build curiosity for learning itself. Through a blend of engaging activities, creative exploration, and personalised guidance, we aim to lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

Who we are looking for?

• You have built programs or curriculum in the Early Years at an IB school or at high quality organization
• You have exposure to more than one pedagogy: IB, Reggio, Play-Way along with Montessori
• You have built or led teacher professional development workshops for preschool teachers
• You like the early years and the impact we can create by helping nurture children in their most impactful years of development
• You are curious and keep trying innovative things in your school.
• Location: Our main office is in central Bangalore (MG Road) but you’ll have to play an active role in visiting our schools from time to time across the city.

Your role & responsibility

In case you have a lot of experience under your belt, and have been a leader in your previous organisations, we will want you to lead the preschool initiative at Openhouse. In case you have experience but are still looking for mentorship, we do have our current team of pedagogy experts and curriculum designers with whom you can learn and grow.

• Build and iterate upon our existing curriculum framework for the early years
• Plan themes, curriculum & lesson plans that are in line with our philosophy, learning outcomes and children’s developmental milestones
• Build a professional development playbook: run workshops and enable our preschool directors and teachers to effectively use the curriculum framework to build their own independent lessons and activity plans as they see fit.
