We are currently seeking a qualified and passionate IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme) English Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the IBDP curriculum, a passion for literature and language, and the ability to inspire and engage students.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Planning and Delivery:
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with the IBDP English curriculum, focusing on both Language and Literature courses.
- Encourage critical thinking and analytical skills through the exploration of diverse texts, including poetry, prose, and drama.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies and technological tools to enhance the learning experience.
- Literary Analysis and Critical Thinking:
- Guide students in the close reading and critical analysis of complex literary texts from different genres and periods.
- Foster a deep understanding of literary theory and its application in textual analysis.
- Promote an appreciation of literature’s cultural and historical contexts.
- Writing and Research Skills:
- Develop students’ writing skills, emphasizing essay writing, creative writing, and research methodologies.
- Provide detailed and constructive feedback on written assignments to help students improve their writing and analytical abilities.
- Guide students in the research process, including the development of the Extended Essay.
- Student Assessment and Evaluation:
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress in alignment with IBDP standards.
- Prepare students for IBDP examinations by providing practice tests, review sessions, and exam strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
- Classroom Management:
- Create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that encourages open discussion and active participation.
- Implement classroom management strategies that promote a positive and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Address behavioral issues promptly and effectively, adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with the latest developments in IB education and English literature through ongoing professional development.
- Participate in IB workshops, training sessions, and school-based professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the school’s academic community.
- Parent and Community Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with parents to discuss student progress, address concerns, and foster a collaborative partnership.
- Engage in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and community activities to build strong relationships with the school community.
- Extracurricular Involvement:
- Support and participate in extracurricular activities related to English literature, such as book clubs, writing workshops, and literary competitions.
- Encourage students to explore and develop their literary interests beyond the classroom.
