Brief on the Organization:

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders.

Indian Institute of Public Health

The Indian Institutes of Public Health are envisioned as hubs of teaching, research, collaboration and advocacy in the evolving discourse of public health. On April 7, 2007, (World Health Day), the Public Health Foundation of India laid the foundation stone for its first institute in Hyderabad, in partnership with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The occasion was graced by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, and Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

The Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) Hyderabad commenced its activities on July 1, 2008, with a mission to deliver public health education, pursue research and advocacy and support policy development. It lays strong emphasis on pursuing public health policy, practice, training and research, positioning its programmes according to the public health priorities of the state and the nation. The institute has brought together a highly qualified and diverse faculty of nationally and internationally trained and extremely motivated public health academics and practitioners. It aims to create an environment that supports excellence in instruction, research and practice.

IIPH Hyderabad goals involve training public health professionals through long- and short-term courses each year, public health research and advocacy support to the governments and NGOs. The flagship courses of IIPH Hyderabad are the Masters in Public Health, Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Management and Integrated MSc PhD in Health Informatics. Short-term courses include training in research methods, statistics, disease surveillance, and change management. In addition, the institute collaborates with various academic, research, and administrative organizations to conduct workshops and conferences, and to undertake public health research and evaluation. IIPH Hyderabad and Bangalore campus also assists in the implementation of national programmes, such as the National Health Mission (NHM), as well as state and regional level public health initiatives.

Deliverables:


PHFI is looking forward to expanding its Faculty Pool for the Indian Institute of Public Health- Hyderabad. Therefore, we invite applications from candidates who are exceptionally bright, motivated and committed towards a dedicated teaching career.

Some of the key area of responsibilities would be teaching, training, research programme engagement and institutional development and will include mainly, the following:

  • Should teach Epidemiology, Public Health and Related topics
  • Mentoring Students in Course work including their research projects
  • Conduct need based trainings on various public health topics
  • Take up relevant research
  • Advocacy with related stakeholders
  • Partnership and collaboration with various organizations
  • Should publish research paper in Peer-reviewed journals
  • Should work closely with Government
  • Travel as per requirement
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualification:


Desirable:

  • PhD in Epidemiology/Public Health or related field/MD (Community Medicine)
Experience:


Desirable:

  • Experience between 2- 5 Years’ teaching/ Public Health Experience
