JOB DESCRIPTION – Senior Facilitator (Maker)

Entity: Museum of Solutions (MuSo)

Location: Lower Parel, Mumbai

Role: Full-time (Willingness to work on Weekends)

Reports to: Lead Maker/ Learning Designer – Maker

Salary: Upto INR 9LPA

ABOUT MUSO: The Museum of Solutions (MuSo) is the first-of-its-kind experiential children’s museum in India that aims to inspire, enable and empower children to create a positive change in the world. Coming up in Lower Parel, Mumbai, MuSo’s exhibits and programs are inspired by the UNSGDs and designed to cultivate the knowledge, skills, and mindset that kids need to solve the challenges they see around them. The museum has a Make Lab, a makerspace with a variety of hands-on labs that help deliver MuSo’s learning goals through engaging workshops, activities, and projects.

MuSo is seeking a passionate and hands-on Make Facilitator to join our team at MuSo. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging electronics, robotics, rapid prototyping workshops, programs and activities for children aged 8-14 years that foster a maker mindset.

Position Details: Senior Facilitator (Maker)

Key Responsibilities:

• Program Facilitation

○ Deliver courses and workshops on electronics, robotics and rapid prototyping during the week and weekends and activities for children and families in the Make Lab

○ Conduct open activities as well as demos on the open atelier, Electronics and Robotics Lab and Rapid Prototyping studio for children, families and groups

• Robotics and Rapid Prototyping Studio Management

○ Create and manage inventory for supplies in the robotics and rapid prototyping studio, conduct weekly audit of supplies and place purchase requirements to Lead Maker on a weekly/ monthly basis

○ Conduct regular equipment audits and ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment in the robotics and rapid prototyping studio.

○ Ensure that all activities adhere to safety guidelines and regulations.

○ Create a safe environment for participants by implementing proper safety measures and protocols.

○ Manage opening/ closing of the studios as well as set up and clean up

• Workshop Development

○ Assist in creating and implementing engaging workshops and courses on electronics, robotics and rapid prototyping that align with MuSo’s learning and engagement model through weekly meetings with the team to provide ideas, inputs and feedback for workshops

• Monitoring and Evaluation

○ Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of programs and their implementation and provide feedback reports to the program design team.

• Capacity Development

○ Attend regular in-house training sessions to upskill on visitor engagement techniques

○ Stay updated on the various trends and best practices in informal learning spaces, facilitator training, attend conferences and professional development opportunities.

• Leadership

○ provide mentorship and support to junior facilitators and volunteers, fostering a culture of creativity, continuous learning, and professional growth.

Essential prerequisites :

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Robotics, Product Design, Industrial Design, Education, or a related field.
• Experience: 2 years+ of experience in maker education, electronics, robotics, rapid prototyping, or related fields, with a demonstrated track record of facilitating hands-on workshops for children.
• Technical Proficiency: Profound knowledge of electronics, robotics, and rapid prototyping concepts, tools, and technologies. Experience in working with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers and other maker equipment.
• Passion for Making: Genuine enthusiasm for hands-on making, electronics, and technology, with the ability to ignite the passion for making in children
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, families, school groups, and colleagues.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, share creative ideas, and actively participate in planning and brainstorming sessions.
• Weekend work: Willingness to work on weekends. Weekly offs in lieu will be provided.

• Organization and Time Management: Efficiently manage time to conduct workshops, handle administrative tasks, and ensure the smooth operation of electronics, robotics, and rapid prototyping studios. Maintain well-organized inventory and supplies.
