Job description:
Job Type: Full-time
We are looking for passionate and experienced early years educators to take on the role of Lead Teacher at our school. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for the learning and development of all children in a class. A few specific responsibilities of the Lead Teacher include:
Learning Environment:
- Creating an inclusive, caring, and play-based environment that is suited to each child’s strengths, developmental needs, and areas of interest
- Creating opportunities for all children to direct their own learning and explorations
- Establishing sound classroom management practices through modeling of positive behaviour, rich communication, and ample opportunities of practice
Implementing Curriculum:
- Drawing on knowledge of early childhood development to plan appropriate learning experiences
- Collaboratively planning with other teachers to create learning experiences and projects on a daily, weekly, and unit level in line with the Toddler’s Den curriculum approach
- Using a wide range of teaching strategies like differentiation and inquiry to address different ability levels and interests, including for children with special needs
Documentation and Reporting:
- Observing and documenting a child’s learning progress
- Communicating about the learning and development progress of every child and working together with parents to support the same
Professional Development:
- Identifying and participating in professional development opportunities that improve theoretical knowledge, enhance skills, and enable collaboration with other educators and professionals
Technology integration:
- Using technology in order to plan engaging and immersive educational experiences
- Documenting a child’s learning with technology and using the data to personalise their classroom learning
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- A demonstrated and genuine liking and appreciation for children and their capabilities
- A Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Education or a related field (preferably in Early Childhood/Elementary Education)
- Knowledgeable about theories that underpin Early Childhood Education in the areas of child development, curriculum design, and teaching and learning practices
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in an early childhood setting
- Experience in backwards planning of units, lessons, activities and assessments
- Effective communication skills – written and oral
- Proficient in and aware of the uses of technology in education
