The role is with one of the Fusion 360 team in the Design and Manufacturing Organization within the Product Design and Manufacturing Solutions division. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Pune-based scrum team. In this role as a Software Engineer you will work on Autodesk Fusion 360. In particular, this role is within Fusion 360 Electronics [LINK], working on CAD tools that enable our users to create schematics, printed circuit boards, run simulations, and more. You will use your software programming skills to implement the next generation features and functionalities of our product, and have the opportunity to work with a world-class software engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with your manager as well as a larger (global) team of software developers, user experience designers, quality assurance engineers, customer support, product owners and others, to deliver high quality software that helps our users do their work faster and more effectively

  • Work under the direction of your manager and more senior developers in order to implement complex functionality, and enable new/improved workflows for our users

  • Produce production quality code that is peer code reviewed, tested, and approved by your team and other stakeholders

  • Be flexible and respond quickly to multiple priorities under changing conditions

  • Design, implement, test and maintain features for Fusion 360 based on stakeholders’ requirements, mostly in C++ Design, implement, test and maintain features for Fusion 360 based on stakeholders’ requirements, mostly in C++

  • Participate actively in code reviews

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • Formal education and software development experience with C++ and Python

  • Familiarity and/or experience with computer aided design (CAD) tools

  • Familiarity and/or experience with electronics design: schematics, pcb layout, library part creation

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of desktop application software development

  • Knowledge of basic software algorithms (searching, sorting, graphs, etc)

  • Experience with Object Oriented Design patterns (OOD)

  • Knowledge of Software development lifecycles (SDLC)

  • Knowledge of User-Interface (UI) programming methodologies, tools, and techniques

  • Experience with Source code control systems such as GIT, github, or other

  • Knowledge of Task management systems such as JIRA, other

  • Knowledge of Agile software development practices such as SCRUM

  • Experience with Standard C++ Libraries and commonly used containers and algorithms

  • Working experience with modern IDEs such as XCODE, Visual Studio, CLION or similar

  • Modern C++ (11, 14, +) specification, techniques and patterns

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-5 years professional experience in software development in C++ and Python

  • In addition to Desktop software development in C++, and scripting in Python, front-end web development experience in other areas is a bonus (such as web technologies, Javascript, frameworks like angular, react, etc)

  • Working knowledge of and experience with:

    o   Testing frameworks used with for C++ and Python

    o   GIT and github

    o   Large codebases (thousands to millions of lines of code)

    o   Refactoring and improving code

    o   Targeted bug fixing and general debugging

    o   QT for UI development (or similar frameworks)

    o   Creating and implementing user interfaces from product level requirements

    o   File processing, parsing, other similar tasks

    o   Applying efficient and performant algorithms for some task

    o   Translating high level business logic into production ready code

    o   Modern CI/CD Systems

    o   Error handling, logging

  • Some deep interest/passion and/or specialization in at least 1 area of software (graphics/painting, logic, OOD, UI, algorithms, etc)

The Ideal Candidate

  • The ideal candidate has some practical experience programming in C++ and Python, having worked on several projects of some complexity with related and demonstrable skills, and with some real responsibility delivering working software

  • In addition, this candidate has great interest and some experience in creating software tools

  • Solid understanding of common design patterns, algorithms, build systems, and modern source control systems are also desired

  • The ideal candidate thrives in a structured, agile, and collaborative team environment, and can take on tasks of a wide range of focus as needed
