Job Discription

Responsibilities
Teach students in a classroom setting, managing their work output in the classroom and behavior on a daily basis.
Develop teaching and learning materials for use in class, including lesson plans, exams and homework, homework and projects, and assignments that make use of all student skills.
Modify lesson plans and materials as needed to make them suitable for students’ current learning levels.
Monitor and track student progress and issue grades.
Maintain relationships with parents and legal guardians of students in order to keep them informed of their child’s progress.
Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators, including special ed teachers and teacher’s aids, to provide individualized support for each student on a regular basis.
Collaborate with other teachers in order to share best practices and provide meaningful feedback regularly.
Ensure that students meet educational standards and school performance goals for their grade level.
Preparing lesson plans in the assigned content area to teach required learning objectives
Assigning and grading projects, assignments and tests
Assessing students’ skills and knowledge regularly
Creating and enforcing classroom rules, policies and procedures
Supervising students and addressing behavior issues inside the classroom and at other times, such as lunch period
Helping individual students who are behind or struggling to learn the content
Collaborating with other High School Teachers to develop lesson plans and improve the learning process
Communicating with students and parents about student progress
Requirements:
Completed degree or course of study in a field related to the subject you will be teaching
Ability to speak for long periods of time and perform light physical labor including lifting, bending and reaching
Strong written and verbal communication skills to work with students, parents, fellow teachers and administrators
Ability to create and teach effective lesson plans related to the subject
Subject matter expertise to teach the topics effectively
Knowledge of behavior management strategies to keep students engaged and learning
Strong organizational and time management skills
Creative and engaging presentation skills
Confidence using technology to enhance student learning
Resourcefulness to teach effectively given the available resources and student skill levels
