Advertisement for the Post of Guest Faculty (01) in the Department cum National Centre

for Human Genome Studies & Research, Panjab University, Chandigarh

Applications are invited for one (01) position of Guest Faculty (Assistant Professor) to teach odd

Semester of the academic year 2022-2023.

Essential Qualification:

Master’s degree in Human Genomics/Human Genetics/Biochemistry/Genetics/Life Sciences or

allied subject with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in appoint scale wherever grading system

is followed) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign

university. A relaxation of 5% shall be provided for the candidate belonging to Scheduled

Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled/Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-creamy

Layer)/Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September,

1991.

Desirable Qualification:


Ph.D. in Human Genomics/Human Genetics/Biochemistry/Genetics/Life Sciences or allied

subject.

Besides fulfilling the above qualification, the candidate must have cleared the National

Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like

SLET/SET or candidate who is or has been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with

regulation of the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award

of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as

the case may be. Provided further, the candidate registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July

11, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET subject to the fulfillment

of the following conditions:-

a) Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only.

b) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners.

c) An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted.

d) Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least

one must be in a refereed journal.

e) Candidate has made at least two presentations in conference/seminars, based on his/her Ph.D.

work. (a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs).

Honorarium:

The above assignment will be on lecture basis with a token honorarium of Rs. 1000/- per lecture

with an upper limit of Rs. 25,000/- per month. The candidate shall have to give an undertaking

that he/she will not draw any fellowship stipend or any financial assistance from any agency till

they are teaching in the Department cum National Centre for Human Genome Studies and

Research, Panjab University, Chandigarh as Guest Faculty. The candidates who are already

availing JRF scholarships in the University are not entitled for the honorarium but they will be

issued experience certificate for the Guest Faculty.

(ii) The candidates are required to submit one hard copy of duly filled form along with copies of

two sets of attested certificates and other supporting documents to the office of the Chairperson,

Department cum National Centre for Human Genome Studies and Research, Pharmaceutical

Extension Block, Panjab University, Chandigarh latest by November 17, 2022, 05:00 p.m.

iii) All shortlisted candidates called for the interview shall be intimated by email / phone. No

separate interview letter shall be sent.

(iv) All applicants are advised to bring their original certificates and other relevant documents

for verification at the time of interview.

(v) The candidates who have applied earlier against the advertisement dated 07.11.2022 need not

apply again.

Note: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
